Patents

Minerval® and the rest of products in development by Lipopharma are protected by four global "Patent Families", three of them owned by The University of the Balearic Islands (UIB) and licensed to Lipopharma and the other one owned by Lipopharma.

The first family of patents is based on the PCT application (PCT/ES02/00475) and has already been granted in all major markets, including Europe (EP-1435235B1), USA (US7851507), Japan, China (ZL02820113.2), Russia (RU2310445), Mexico (249563) or Brazil. This patent is owned by the University of the Balearic Islands and Lipopharma has and exclusive worldwide license for the development of oncology indications.

The second family of patents is based on the PCT application (PCT/ES2009/070561) and is currently entering into the national phases in all major markets. The priority Spanish patent was granted in Spain last May 25th, 2011 (ES 2342997 B1). This patent is owned by the University of the Balearic Islands and Lipopharma has in-licensed exclusive worldwide rights.

The third family of patents is based on the PCT application (PCT/ES2010/070153) and is also entering into the national phases in all major markets. This patent is owned by Lipopharma and the oncology applications of the protected compounds have been out-licensed to AB-Therapeutics.

A fourth family of patents has been filed at the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office in October 2011. This patent is owned by the University of the Balearic Islands and Lipopharma has licensed all worldwide rights in exclusive
